Tiles are the foundation of the system, everything is based around them. Governorate can earn land by conquest, which means leading a successful attack against the enemy and earned some glory.
Tiles are divided into three categories - industrial tiles, villages and cities, each has a different price in gold and glory and two of them can be further upgraded, these upgrades cost gold.
You, as the ruler of your kingdom, collect taxes from villages and cities.
Industrial tiles are used to extract primary resources, which can usually be further processed. They need pops to work. There is only one industrial tile and there are four specific buildings, that can be constructed only on industrial tiles and they are described under buildings.

Village tiles represent entire villages and provide slots for basic buildings. When purchased, village comes with one open slot. Villages can be further upgraded to open up to 6 slots.
Each turn you collect taxes from your villages. Every village pays 2 golds.
